How to effectively use social media for your restaurant.

Over the last few months, so much has changed. I was reading an article recently, and it mentioned that 10 years of change has happened in the previous 3 months. If you thought an online presence was not that important for your business, I am sure you have changed your mind over the last few months. Social media has completely changed the way business is being conducted. A recent study found that nearly 80 percent of consumers would be more inclined to buy more often in the future because of a brand’s presence on social media. Therefore, knowing how to utilize social media is very important.

Here are 4 ways you can be more successful in social media.

1. More video. I think being in the restaurant business provides with lots of great opportunities to provide lot’s visual content for followers and especially video. Rather than just creating posts with text and copy, try to incorporate video as much as possible. You can post a video of a new menu item or even a video of the chef cooking in the kitchen.  The possibilities are endless.

2. Interact with your visitors. Like I previously mentioned, there are so many great ideas that you can use to promote your business on social media. Not only should you interact with your customers online and respond to messages and comments. You should also encourage the customers that come to your restaurant to follow you on social media and even post pictures of their meals online. Doing this helps to build your followers online.  Our digital marketing agency has a turn-key program that helps restaurants implement this strategy.   If you need help or you like to find more about more information, feel free to contact us for more information.

3. Post frequently. If you are having a problem with posting regularly or finding content to post, don’t worry, you are not alone. Over 65% of businesses struggle with this problem. One thing you can do to overcome this problem is to set up a schedule for yourself. For example, every Monday and Wednesday. It’s important to post on your pages on a consistent and frequent basis (approximately two times a week).  The next thing you can do is hire someone to create content for you. You could hire a writer to write articles for you, and you hire a graphic designer to create images or videos for you. Finding content on your own to post on social media can be very time-consuming. We help our clients solve this problem by creating content for them on a monthly bases. Need help creating content for your social media profiles? Contact us to find out how we can help you.

4. Leverage your content. Make every piece of content you create works hard for you. One of the best ways to do this is, to put it into more than one format. For example, your content could be an article, a top-10 list, an infographic, or a PowerPoint presentation. Your PowerPoint presentation can also become a video on YouTube, which you would then embed on your site. You could also share your PowerPoint on popular sharing site like SlideShare.
